The 2013 melt season was less extreme compared to 2012. Observationally, proglacial river flows were lower and we did not observe any bridges washing out. It snowed during our last night in the field and the rivers started to develop bank ice by the time we headed south in mid August. We spent three weeks working on a remote river north of Kangerlussuaq, Greenland. This required us to backpack in with 70 pound packs full of food and science equipment. The photos below are intended to provide an overview of our work and travel.
